The American Israel Numismatic Association is a non-sectarian cultural and educational organization dedicated to the study and collection of Israel's coinage, past and present, and all aspects of Judaic numismatics. It is a democratically organized, membership oriented group, chartered as a non-profit association under the laws of The State of New York. The primary purpose is the development of publications, programs, meetings and other activities which will bring news, history, social and related background to the study and collection of Judaic and Israel numismatics, and the advancement of the hobby.

AINA has sponsored major cultural/social/numismatic events such as national and regional conventions, study tours to Israel, publication of books, and other activities of benefit to the members. An annual meeting is held at the convention of the American Numismatic Association, usually in August.

AINA publishes The Shekel, The Journal of Israel and Jewish History and Numismatics four times a year. It is an illustrated magazine prepared for the enlightenment and entertainment of the membership by talented writers from around the world.
